CNPC Signs SNG Development Agreement for Xinjiang Uygur Region

On December 16, CNPC and Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region signed a strategic cooperation agreement on SNG development in Beijing. Member of the political bureau of the central committee of the communist party and Secretary of CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee Zhang Chunxian and CNPC Chairman Jiang Jiemin had in-depth talks before the signing ceremony. CNPC President Zhou Jiping and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Chairman Nur Bekri signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides.

In 2012, CNPC pushed forward with oil and gas production in Xinjiang, started construction of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline, and participated in the development of Hongshan Oilfield. In addition to the aforementioned achievements, the signing of the agreement this time is a new milestone for promoting the socioeconomic development in Xinjiang by utilizing the rich coal resources in the region.
